Duchenne muscular dystrophy is the most common genetic disease. It affects 1 in 3500 boys and there is no cure. It is lethal. DMD is a progressive condition. Many kids die before the age of 20 but because of improvements in respirational care some make it to their fourties or even to their fifties.
